So, the people in my house are SUPER Doctor Who fans. They love everything Doctor Who and all 3 of them have asked for Doctor Who shirts. Instead of dropping $20+ on each shirt, I decided that we could make shirts. Eve was up first and she chose a Dalek with the word "EXTERMINATE!" 

What you need:

Bleach pen

shirt

freezer paper

Exacto knife

stencils

computer/printer

iron

We found awesome stencils here. The learning curve is figuring out what to cut out and what to leave so your stencil/bleach looks good. It has hard to explain. After printing your stencil, cut some freezer paper to fit over the printout, lay the shiny side down. Use your Exacto knife (found at Walmart in the crafting section) to cut out your stencil. With the lettering, I just typed the wording on Word and then experimented with sizes and fonts. I knew that we were doing this on a childs sized t-shirt (Walmart boys department $4) so we couldn't make it really big. We also found that it is easiest to cut out letters without a serif (basically this is a letter with a serif  E, and this is not E) so basically the more basic the lettering the easier it is to cut out. Type what you want it to say and print it out on plain white paper. After stencils are all cut out, lay them on the shirt. I put a magazine in between the layers of the shirt to prevent the bleach from showing up on the back side. Make sure that the shiny side is DOWN. After positioning the stencils, iron them on your shirt. This is after the stencils are ironed on and before bleach:

Once ironed on and ready you can start filling in the stencil with the bleach pen. These pens are almost like working with puff paint. My biggest tip here is keep a toothpick handy to pop any air bubbles. As you can see on my next pic, I had to leave spaces without bleach for the capital "R" and "A" because we couldn't figure out a way to not have to cut it out completely. Also, you can see in my pic, that I not only filled in the Dalek, I also traced around it with the bleach pen.

Leave bleach alone to soak into the fabric 15-20 minutes. We left ours on for 20. Once it is done sitting, remove the stencils. Then you need to completely rinse the bleach off of the shirt. It is hard to see but the bleach sits, gel-like, on the shirt and you need to rub your hand over all of the stencil areas to remove ALL of the bleach. This is what mine looked like after rinsing:

After it is COMPLETELY rinsed off, wash the shirt. I am kind of panicky about bleach, so I washed the shirt all by itself. Once washed and then hung to dry, this is what the final product looks like: 

Not too bad, I don't think, for a first try. This is Eve wearing hers, the only flaw we could find was that it went a little bit uphill. These are not meant to look perfect. Eve was happy with hers. We plan on making more and I will post them later.

1.  Zyrtec makes me very zombie-like but it is awesome with my allergies. I have to cut them in half to be able to lead a normal life while taking them.

Recipe time

I don't share many recipes because most of my recipes I get online and don't want to post something that is already out there. This recipe is an oldie but goodie at our house. 

The hubby worked at Noble Roman's pizza MANY years ago. One thing they served that we couldn't get enough of was their ham and cheese sandwich. We were young then and didn't think much about writing down what all was in it :( Then all of the Noble Roman's near us closed and we couldn't have the best sandwich ever any more (insert sad face again). Then one glorious day one opened up in a convenience store in town (insert happy face). We immediately bought some sandwiches. When we got home we dissected it to find all of the ingredients. We couldn't figure out the sauce so I asked the cook the next time I was in there and she showed me what they use, haha!!

Noble Roman's (like) Ham and Cheese Sandwich

Ingredients:

Sub buns

deli sliced/shaved ham

creamy italian dressing

shredded mozzarella cheese

potato chips

banana peppers (optional)

Preparation:

1.  Cut open sub buns (we buy ours in the grocery stores bakery) long ways and lay out on cookie sheet.

2.  Put some ham on the bottom buns. Pour some dressing on the top buns (we prefer the taste of Ken's dressing and this is what our local Noble Roman's used).

3. Put shredded cheese on the top buns. Add more dressing, this time to the bottom buns. This is where you would add the banana peppers onto the cheese if you wanted them.

4.  Bake in oven on 375 until cheese is melted. 

5.  Cut sandwich in half and serve with Lay's plain potato chips (the brand Noble Roman's used).

With these sandwiches, the more drippy the better. This way the sauce drips on the chips and it is awesome tasting. As for the amounts used of ham, cheese, and sauce it is all up to you and how much you like. My hubby loves lots of cheese so we pile tons on. Brands really don't matter but we are used to Lay's chips with these so that is what we buy. As for the Ken's dressing, we have tried other brands but we keep coming back to the Ken's. I think its because we are used to how it tastes. We have a hard time finding Ken's creamy Italian in our area so we usually buy it when we see it!

The Slumber Party

This week has been way tiring. Our first few days back to school/work usually are, this week is no exception. I could probably fall asleep right now (5 pm) and not wake up until my alarm goes off at 5:30am BUT the kids act like they need to be fed (in between both of them playing 2 different Skylanders games on 2 different TV's) so we will make dinner first and then momma will rest.

Slumber Party Fun

I said I would upload pics of our slumber party and here they are. Sorry that they are craptastic pics, I will NEVER be accused of being a photographer :) The activities we had were a photo booth, a cupcake bar, ice cream bar, and we made washer necklaces. Eve wanted a sports party so food was hot dogs and nachos. Pretty easy to do in crock pots.  To drink we did a standard punch that we always use, which is raspberry sherbert and 7 Up. Food is boring, so no pics of it, sorry.

The photo booth was basically a teal sheet (the only solid color I had) hanging on the wall and a big neon poster board that Eve made that said "Photo Booth." We got the photo booth print outs here. I printed some in full color on white card stock and then to save ink and time we printed some of the glasses on colored card stock. Once printed and cut out, we hot glued them on the sticks. I got the sticks at WalMart in the craft section, with popsicle sticks and the like. I think they were $.97 for 16 sticks, pretty cheap. (Don't buy the ones in the cake making section, they were twice as much and  you got way less). I let the girls take their own photos on Eve's digital camera.

 Then we did a build your own cupcake and ice cream bar. We had colored sugars, sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, chocolate syrup, caramel syrup, and 2 different icings. I got the cute little ice cream dishes this summer at JoAnn's. They match the napkins, the cupcake liners, and cupcake picks.

This is what each girl got, a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a chocolate or white cupcake. They decorated how they wanted.

After I cleaned up all of the messes and got an old sheet for the table, I let the girls paint washers. My hubby purchased the washers at Ace Hardware and then spray painted both sides white. I got out a bunch of nail polish and let them paint away. There were some really cute ones. One, not pictured, was with black glitter polka dots that was painted to look like a dog. These girlies were creative. Each girl painted 2 washers. The washers were about the size of a silver dollar. I found the rainbow cording in the sewing department at Hobby Lobby at $1 per spool on 1/2 off day.  Instead of treat bags with a lot of junk, this was the girls gift to take home. I got the idea for the washer necklaces from my Family Fun magazine but I can't find it online to link to it :(

Happy Birthday Baby Girl!!

I have been neglecting my blog! It has been for a good reason. Eve had a slumber party last night and I have been busy preparing. I will add pics later of the fun activities that we did but I wanted todays blog to be about Eve. So here are some pics over the years that I found on the super ancient computer that I use, it was a hand-me-down from the in-laws :) 

January 5th, 2003 was a great day for us. We got our precious Evie. Who has a baby during a blizzard? Me, that's who. But technically it was her fault because she decided to make a grand entrance into the world 21 days early!! So, happy 10th birthday Eve!! (Sorry for all of the pics)
